Welcome!

First Option Bank is proud to provide trust services for a number of charitable foundations that you will find described in Trusteed Foundations and Application Specific Foundations and Scholarships.

Applications submitted to Trust Services are considered for all the Trusteed Foundations.  Please submit an application packet following the stated guidelines.  The Application Specific Foundations and Scholarships have particular guidelines and a unique application process for each.

Please carefully review the information and guidelines provided for each trust to determine if your non-profit organization is eligible to apply.  Requests from individuals are not considered, except for the specified scholarships.

Trusteed Foundations Qualifications and Guidelines

Primary consideration is given to grant requests received for organizations serving Miami County, Kansas.

The Trustee will consider requests for special community projects.  The community need, benefit to the community and return on investment are the main considerations in the distribution decisions.

Grants from these foundations are made by the selection committee to non-profit organizations that are fiscally sound and serve various needs in the community.

The committee does not consider unsolicited requests for general operating support such as salaries, maintenance, and debt service or requests by political organizations, churches or individuals.  Grants will usually be made only to organizations with records of successful operation. Other selection committee considerations include:

  • Ultimate benefit to the community
  • Community support
  • Organization governance and financial management
  • Implementation of a strategic plan

We receive requests from many deserving charitable organizations, but resources are directed to those we feel have the most critical need and where support can have the greatest impact.  The rejection of a proposal should not be construed negatively in regards to a particular organization or project, but rather as a selective choice on the part of the committee to use limited resources in an alternative fashion.
